Is Walk Up Song App free?
Yes. One team with unlimited players, walk-up clips, the announcer, your own voice recordings, game mode and the ready check are all free. Pro adds unlimited teams, the soundboard, a between-innings playlist and coach sharing.
Can I use Spotify, YouTube or Amazon Music?
No. Spotify’s developer rules do not allow a public app like this to play its music, and they ban mixing other audio over it, which would rule out the announcer anyway. YouTube’s terms do not allow playing a video’s audio on its own. Amazon Music does not offer apps like this a way to play its catalog. You can use songs you have as files (MP3, M4A or WAV), or Apple Music on iPhone.
Where do the songs come from?
From you. Upload a song file you have the rights to use, or on iPhone pick a song from Apple Music with your own subscription. Walk Up Song App does not sell or supply music.
Do I need a licence to play music at the field?
Playing music in public can need a performance licence. In Canada that is usually SOCAN and Re:Sound; in the US, ASCAP, BMI and SESAC. Leagues and venues often hold one already. Getting the right licence is your responsibility (or your league’s), not Walk Up Song App’s. Check with your league or venue.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Set your team up with a connection, run the ready check, and game mode plays entirely from your phone. Apple Music songs are the exception: they stream, so they need a connection.
How does the announcer work?
It reads “Now batting, number 12, Ava Ng” with your phone’s best voice, or plays a recording of your own voice. The song drops under the voice and comes back up, or waits until the voice is done; you choose per player. It is free.
Does it work on Android?
Yes. Uploaded songs, the announcer, game mode and the ready check work the same on Android and iPhone. Apple Music is iPhone only.
Can another coach run the music?
With Pro, share the team by invite code. Your coaches see the same lineup and clips on their own phones.
Does Pro unlock Apple Music?
No. Apple Music works on the free plan too. Apple does not allow apps to charge for it, and we would not anyway. You only need your own Apple Music subscription.
How do I connect a speaker?
Pair a Bluetooth speaker with your phone, or plug into the PA. Walk Up Song App plays through whatever your phone is connected to.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Delete account. It removes your account and every team you own, with its players, lineups, songs and clips. You can also email support and we will do it for you.
